Summary

This study investigates the hydrochemical characteristics of stream water and groundwater in the karst area of Samcheok, Korea. The stream water and groundwater are characterized by high Ca2+ and HCO3- concentrations due to water-carbonate rock interaction, particularly calcite dissolution, with isotopic analysis confirming carbonate rock dissolution as a dominant factor. Coastal stream water is affected by seawater, showing high Na+ and Cl- concentrations, and isotopic compositions suggest nearby East Sea evaporation as the primary source.
