Summary
This study demonstrates through a survey experiment that personal interest and local interest, as well as public interest, play a significant role in shaping attitudes toward local issues. When policy issues are presented in a local context, personal and local interests become important factors influencing policy preferences, differing from previous research. The study emphasizes that policy preferences are shaped not only by abstract public interest but also by the everyday lives and conditions of citizens and their communities.
