Summary

This study investigated the STEAM lessons conducted by two secondary science teachers in Seoul using Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) as an analytical tool. The results showed that both teachers lacked consideration for student-centered creative activities in their STEAM lessons, and various elements of the activity system, such as the school environment and STEAM-related policies, influenced lesson implementation. Contradictions and complex interactions among the activity system elements led to successful STEAM lesson experiences and positively impacted the teachers' lesson implementation.
