This study aimed to identify the types of labor division among dual-earner couples based on the distribution of work, family, and leisure time, and to examine the differences in their daily emotional experiences. Using the Experience Sampling Method (ESM), the results showed four types of division of labor: ‘carer-centered couples’, ‘leisure-oriented couples’, ‘latent dual carer-earner couples’, and ‘modified male breadwinner couples’, which were related to household characteristics. Differences in positive/negative emotional experiences were observed depending on the type of labor division, and negative emotional experiences were more strongly associated with gender.
