Summary

This study analyzed the content of global citizenship education in the 2015 revised elementary social studies curriculum using Merryfield's conceptual framework. The analysis revealed that content related to understanding the world as an interdependent system and global issues and cultural diversity was strengthened, but intercultural understanding and prejudice reduction were insufficient. Based on these findings, the study proposed strengthening the coherence of educational content, promoting intercultural understanding, developing teaching and learning methods, and fostering expert training.
