Summary

Following earthquakes in 2016-2017 on the Korean Peninsula, the vulnerability of patients with chronic kidney disease, particularly those undergoing hemodialysis, has been highlighted. This paper reviews the disaster response system in Japan and proposes a disaster preparedness plan for hemodialysis patients, emphasizing the importance of training for medical staff and patient education. It also suggests the need for long-term preparation at the government level and evaluation of earthquake preparedness in hemodialysis facilities in Korea.
