Summary

This study investigated changes in cecal microbiota with aging in rats. In 31-week-old rats, Lachnospiraceae, a short-chain fatty acid-producing bacterium, increased, while Ruminococcaceae decreased, and butyrate levels also significantly increased. Specifically, microbial species EU622775_s and EU622773_s showed a strong association with cecal butyrate concentration.
