Summary

Fe/ZrO2 catalysts were synthesized via a urea-assisted solid-state combustion method and utilized for the thermal decomposition of undiluted biogas to produce hydrogen-rich syngas and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). The catalytic activity evaluation demonstrated significantly increased methane and carbon dioxide conversion with increasing iron content and reaction temperature, achieving a maximum methane conversion of 92% and carbon dioxide conversion of 89% with an H2/CO ratio of approximately 2.25 at 900°C using the 50%Fe/ZrO2 catalyst.
