This paper reexamines the positivism/post-positivism debate in international political science through the lens of explanatory/constructive theory and foundationalism/anti-foundationalism. It reconsiders the long-standing debate from a constructive/foundationalist perspective using interpretations of modern physics, and ultimately maintains a foundationalist stance by suggesting the possibility of determining the validity of theories based on scientific criteria, differentiating itself from existing constructive theories.
