Summary

This study investigated the influence of parental reading attitudes and support methods on elementary school students' reading attitudes and voluntary reading frequency. The survey results showed a positive correlation between parental reading attitudes and children's reading attitudes and voluntary reading, with indirect reading support methods having a greater impact than direct methods. In-depth interviews revealed that the low correlation was due to parental support not fully considering children's preferences, and the study suggested a shift in parental awareness to recognize children as ‘readers’ and encourage autonomous support.
