Summary

This study investigates the exposure status of secondhand smoke in restaurants in Seoul and examines the necessity of enacting an ordinance to prevent secondhand smoke damage. Survey results show that over 90% of non-smokers are exposed to secondhand smoke in restaurants, with many exposed for extended periods, posing health risks. Therefore, the Seoul Metropolitan Council should seek active measures to prevent secondhand smoke damage, considering the balance of rights between smokers and non-smokers and the public interest.
