Summary

This study examines the potential and limitations of after-school programs in alleviating social polarization and suggests directions for enhancing their policy effectiveness. While after-school programs can benefit the development of low-income children, they have limitations in bridging the educational gap due to distrust in program quality and the stigma effect. Therefore, strengthening caregiving functions and activating talent development education to provide practical educational opportunities for low-income children is crucial.
