Summary

This study analyzes the relationship between academic ability and capability in modern society, as well as the problems of credentialism. Credentialism considers academic credentials as a proxy for ability, which reinforces the ideological illusion of ‘academic ability = capability’. However, actual capability is a more comprehensive concept than academic ability, and credentialism can lead to a value inversion where form precedes content.
