This study analyzed the experiences and life processes of 20 birth parents of children in foster care using grounded theory methodology through in-depth interviews. The results showed that birth parents experienced difficulties such as self-deprecation, stigma, and social prejudice, and attempted to overcome these through support systems and maternal instincts. Based on this analysis, social work practice strategies for supporting the family reunification of foster care birth parents were proposed.
