Summary

Germany recognizes the participation of regional parties in local elections, and their proportion has increased significantly since the 1990s. In Germany, regional parties are understood as political associations focused on local autonomy discussions, and in some areas, they surpass national parties in local election votes. This study analyzes the meaning, development, current status, legal status, and evaluation of regional parties in Germany to provide implications for local autonomy and party relations in Korea.
