This study compares the authenticity of conversations in American TV dramas and movies. Dramas are understudied as English education materials compared to movies, and the conversational situations in dramas were found to be more realistic and engaging. Utilizing the situational authenticity of dramas is suggested for developing textbooks to increase student interest and motivation.
