Summary

This study investigated the lower limb muscle activation levels of elderly women during outdoor moonwalker exercise at varying speeds using surface electromyography (sEMG). Increased exercise speed resulted in higher activation levels of the lower back and thigh muscles, with notable changes in the activation patterns of the gluteus maximus and quadriceps. The findings suggest that exercising at a speed faster than normal walking speed may enhance muscle activation and be beneficial for safe and effective exercise for the elderly.
