Summary

This study analyzes the usage and characteristics of ‘갸’, ‘janai’, and ‘jeo’, which are discussed as reflexive markers in 15th century Korean data. These markers take both long-distance and short-distance antecedents, primarily with 3rd person animate subjects, but exceptions exist. They also correspond to ‘self’ in vernacular Korean translations, but not always in a one-to-one relationship.
