Summary

This study explores the multicultural sensibility and identity of the Korean people through the lens of traditional Korean wall culture. It reconstructs the cultural sensibility of figures from the Yeongnam region during the Joseon Dynasty – Toegye, Nammyung, and Hangang – by analyzing their architectural spaces (Dosan Seowon, Sanchonjae, Dodong Seowon), and examines their process of forming a uniquely Korean Neo-Confucian identity without being assimilated into mainstream culture.
