Summary

This study evaluated the antibacterial activity of methanol extracts from 35 species of marine algae, revealing excellent activity of Porphyra, Pyropia, Undaria pinnatifida, and Undaria undarioides against various bacteria. Notably, extracts from Porphyra and Pyropia showed potential for developing new antifungal agents against antibiotic-resistant Candida sp., suggesting the use of marine algae as a biological resource for controlling antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
