Summary

This study numerically investigated the hydrodynamic characteristics and reaction mechanisms of a bubbling fluidized bed reactor for the fast pyrolysis of woody biomass using the Eulerian-Granular method. The results showed that bubble dynamics influence the movement and mixing of solid particles in the fluidized bed, altering heat transfer phenomena, and the primary reaction exhibited the highest tar production rate. Secondary reactions were found to be more active in the freeboard than in the fluidized bed.
