This study analyzes the ecological spirit of Park Ji-won, a Silhak scholar of the late Joseon Dynasty, through three aspects – the ecology of living things, the ecology of the between, and the ecology of mindful observation – grounded in reality and civilization. Park Ji-won emphasized the interaction between humans and nature, rejected a dualistic approach, and highlighted the importance of ‘mindful observation’ for objectively viewing the world without prejudice. Park Ji-won’s ecology possesses practical significance beyond the conceptual level.
