Summary

EU competition law has been pivotal for market integration by eliminating trade barriers, but private enforcement has lagged behind public enforcement. To address this, the EU recently introduced a Directive on competition law damages actions to incentivize private parties to sue for anti-competitive practices. This article introduces the EU competition law on damages actions, compares it with other jurisdictions, and offers insights for Korean competition policymakers.
