Summary

This study explored the lives of the elderly in a super-aged rural society through in-depth interviews to understand the meaning of their lives. The results showed that the past was a ‘life of hardship due to hardship and poverty’, the present was a ‘life of sacrifice for children despite frailty’, and the future was a ‘life of acceptance of one's own life and the fate of the village’.
