This study examined the mediating effect of domestic violence on the relationship between problem drinking of male breadwinners and spouse drinking. The results showed that higher levels of problem drinking in male breadwinners were associated with increased spouse drinking and experiences of domestic violence, and that problem drinking in male breadwinners influenced spouse drinking through domestic violence.
