Summary

This study analyzed the factors influencing research participation consent ability in nursing home residents. The results showed that 71.8% of the 202 nursing home residents had the ability to consent to research participation, and logistic regression analysis revealed that cognitive function significantly affected consent ability. The study emphasizes the importance of the consent process when involving older adults in research and suggests that both informed consent and proxy consent should be obtained for those with cognitive impairment.
