Summary

This study analyzed the consistency of gender equality perspectives presented in the ‘Changes in Gender Roles’ and ‘Economic Life’ units of elementary school social studies textbooks. The analysis revealed that the ‘Changes in Gender Roles’ unit had a lower proportion of female characters while explaining gender equality, and the ‘Economic Life’ unit showed a gender division of labor with a higher proportion of male characters engaged in work activities. These discrepancies between units could cause confusion in students’ gender equality education, necessitating improvement.
