Summary

This study evaluated the caregiving experiences of elderly mothers caring for adults with intellectual disabilities and analyzed the factors influencing these experiences. The results showed that caregiving burden and satisfaction were at similar levels, and the functional level of the child with a disability and aging awareness significantly impacted caregiving assessment. Furthermore, the mother's coping strategies and perceptions of the relationship with her child with a disability were identified as mediating variables.
