Summary

This study examines the criterion of examination of insurance documents under Article 28 of UCP 600 and points out several problems and implications with respect to opinions and decisions of the International Chamber of Commerce. The main contents of insurance documents include issuer and signature, presentation of original documents, date of commencement of cover, risk covered, a declaration under an open cover, and type of insurance and additional risks. Determining the consistency of insurance documents is crucial in documentary credit transactions within international trade.
