A Case Study of Assessing Young Children with English Language Proficiency in Korea

Author
차경화
Journal Title
영어교육연구
Publication Year
2009
Summary

This case study assessed the English proficiency of young Korean children with no overseas experience using standardized assessment tools (BVAT, LAS/Pre-LAS) to analyze the differences between bilingual verbal ability and English proficiency, as well as proficiency levels in each language skill. The results suggest the need for early English bilingual education for preschool children in Korea and call for a change in current educational policy.
