Summary

This study analyzed patent information published from 1996 to 2014 to develop new Korean traditional herbal formulations and functional cosmetics for acne treatment. Seventy-two patents related to anti-inflammatory and anti-acne effects were selected, and 159 herbal components were reclassified based on frequency and characteristics. The results suggest the potential efficacy and safety of new traditional formulations based on frequently appearing herbs in the related patent information.
