Summary

This study addresses the lack of consistency among domestic personal information protection legislations despite the increasing importance of personal information protection in an ICT-based society. Analysis of the Personal Information Protection Act, Information and Communications Network Act, Credit Information Act, and Location Information Act revealed issues such as duplicate clauses and deviations in the legitimacy of the legislative system after 2011. Therefore, the legislative unification of personal information protection legislation is suggested as an urgent task for protecting personal information in an ICT-based society.
