Summary

This study analyzes the impact of housing assets on consumption and compares consumption elasticity by asset type. The results show that the consumption elasticity of housing assets is higher than that of financial assets and other real estate assets, particularly among those aged 60 and over, apartment residents, and households with low debt. This is interpreted as being influenced by the tendency in Korea to avoid reducing assets even after retirement income decreases, the high liquidity of apartments, and low debt levels.
