Summary

This study aims to publicize the differences in East-West thinking in the design field and emphasize the importance of Eastern values to establish a new identity for design education. Analysis of prior research revealed that Easterners are accustomed to contextual and holistic thinking, and the development of educational content suitable for the cognitive structure of learners is necessary. Future design education models should be designed to provide effective education for learners with diverse thinking structures.
