This study investigated translation errors in Korean subtitles of DVD movies by comparing English originals and translated subtitles from 32 selected films. The analysis revealed that the quality of subtitles was often low in many movies, with improbable interpretation (IP) and unsuited interpretation (US) errors being frequent. Differences in translator ability contributed to variations in translation quality, and improvements in the overall quality of Korean subtitles could be achieved through appropriate policies and support.
