Summary

This study analyzes Kanji errors found in the free compositions of 63 Korean advanced Japanese learners who passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 1 or N1, and suggests directions for Kanji education for advanced learners. The analysis reveals the importance of memorizing Kanji by separating the overall image and each component's shape, teaching the meaning, and strengthening recognition of the left side. Furthermore, it is necessary to learn pronunciation first, recognize phonetic changes, and clearly understand the differences in meaning between Kanji used in Korea and Japan.
