Summary

This study analyzes the development and recent trends of religious tourism based on Buddhism in Korea and Japan. Religious tourism can broaden understanding by sharing religious values and culture with tourists, and contribute to social integration and the prevention of religious conflict. Recently, complex religious and cultural experience tourism products pursuing well-being, healing, and recovery have been developed.
