Summary

This study investigated the differences in brain activity during hypothesis generation and understanding among pre-service teachers (biology majors and non-majors) and biologists using functional magnetic resonance imaging. The results revealed significant differences in brain activity patterns among the three groups during hypothesis generation, with the left medial prefrontal gyrus playing a crucial role. However, no significant differences were observed during hypothesis understanding.
