Summary

This study aimed to analyze the assessment objectives of summative assessment items in the biology domain of middle school science based on Bloom's revised taxonomy. The analysis revealed that most items aimed to assess factual knowledge, and in terms of cognitive process, items assessing remembering were most prevalent. Furthermore, there was a discrepancy between the distribution of instructional and assessment objectives, and no difference was found in assessment objective levels across grades.
