This study analyzes the phenomenon of food nostalgia, represented by ‘mother’s taste,’ from an emotional sociological perspective, reconstructing it as an imaginative fusion harmonizing the cognitive dissonance between home-cooked and restaurant meals. Food nostalgia is expressed as embodied food memories and longing for mothers, with emotional patterns varying by gender and life cycle. Furthermore, the study traces the process of mother’s taste transforming into nostalgia through social mechanisms such as the modern family, menu pluralism, and the worship of naturalness, emphasizing the need to restore the communality of eating.
