Summary

This study investigated the effects of applying discovery learning to the ‘Structure and Function of Plants’ unit in 8th-grade science on students’ academic achievement and attitude toward science. The results showed that the discovery learning group had significantly higher academic achievement and a more positive attitude toward science compared to the traditional lecture-based group. This is thought to be because students became more interested in the lesson and better understood the content by directly experiencing scientific phenomena and solving problems themselves.
