This study traces the cases of the disappearance or transformation of places in the Guro Industrial Complex, established in 1964, in the 1990s, highlighting the process of ‘reterritorialization’ by the state-capital. Focusing on the 1990s’ changes that sought to erase the traces and memories of the Guro Industrial Complex’s sense of place beyond the power of the state/capital in the 1980s, the study visually analyzes photographic texts, newspaper articles, oral histories, and literary texts.
