Summary
This study aimed to identify the perceptions and performance of pain management among nurses working in long-term care hospitals for patients with dementia. The results showed that nurses reported low perceptions of pain management but good performance, particularly regarding the recognition of pain experience, self-reporting, assessment tools, and analgesic use. Nurses who received pain management education showed significantly higher perceptions and performance levels, and a significant correlation was found between perception and performance.
