Summary

This paper analyzes the establishment process of the Nanyang Corporation, which operated in the South Seas under Japanese mandate rule. Based on the political and military importance and economic development potential of the South Seas, the establishment of the Nanyang Stock Company was proposed and officially launched in 1936 with the approval of the Japanese government. This study aims to clarify the role of the stock companies in the colonial development policy of the imperial state and understand the historical characteristics of colonial development.
