Summary

This study analyzed the impacts on job burnout and engagement of street-level bureaucracy by focusing on the job demands-resources model and customer-related social stressors. The results showed that role ambiguity and work overload increased burnout while self-efficacy and social support decreased it, with opposite effects on engagement. Furthermore, customer-related social stress negatively impacted burnout and engagement, which was buffered by job resources and facilitated by job demands.
