Summary

This study examines the validity and intersection of public policy through the case of British cultural policy. The UK cultural policy has been characterized by the ‘arm’s length policy’ emphasizing expertise and political independence, but recently shows a trend influenced by the government structure. The Blair administration sought to expand cultural accessibility through government intervention under the banner of diversity, but faced criticism for abuse, while the Cameron administration reduced intervention emphasizing excellence, leading to a contraction of arts and culture spaces.
