This study investigated the mediated effects of basic psychological needs on the relationship between parental autonomy support and self-directed learning ability of high school students. The results showed significant positive correlations among parental autonomy support, basic psychological needs, and self-directed learning ability, with basic psychological needs partially mediating the relationship. This suggests that satisfying basic psychological needs, along with parental autonomy support, is crucial for improving self-directed learning ability.
