Summary

This study explores the current status and potential of English teaching by homeroom teachers in public elementary schools. The results indicate that teachers commonly recognize the insufficient hours for English education and believe that homeroom teachers' English instruction can positively impact students' English exposure and motivation. However, they point out potential difficulties in teachers' English competence and school curriculum operation, and suggest future directions for English teaching by homeroom teachers.
