Summary

This study emphasizes the need for differentiated Korean culture education for international students in Korean universities, redefining the goal of cultural education to include not only improving Korean communication skills but also building cultural and academic background knowledge for academic performance. To this end, Korean cultural items reflecting the needs of international students are selected based on the Standard Model of Korean as an International Language, and a plan for developing a culture-centered textbook is presented.
