Mongolia underwent two shifts in its state system during the twentieth century—from feudalism to socialism and from socialism to democracy—and its history education has played a crucial role in addressing issues of nation and territory. Mongolian history education has shown changes in the composition of its content throughout different periods, particularly emphasizing the history of Chinggis Khan and moving towards establishing self-identity based on the changes in modern Mongolia.
